Cute as a Button Birthday Party!

We can all agree that Madison is cute, right? (not as cute as your kids, I know, but I digress…) So when Holly decided on the “Cute as a Button” theme I knew we could all have some FUN with the details! So, fun we had.

This amazing party was planned by my daughter Holly for her first born, Madison Lee. It is such a cute theme, several of us begged to help! There was so much cuteness everywhere you turned, at this fun party! The "Cute as a Button" party is definitely something you don’t see every day.  Taking a popular saying and turning it into a more literal party theme is a great way to keep your party original.

My favorite Cute as a Button party ideas and elements from this over the top birthday celebration are:

  • The adorable hat and matching bib for the Birthday girl (bib made by my daughter in law Eva)
  • The adorable tulle tutu (made by Eva) with hand sewn buttons by Olivia (Pictured below)
  • The Cute as a button invitation!
  • The M L hand painted on the heart shaped button on the diaper cover made by me
  • The button themed banner
  • The little button cake pops
  • The lovely cake and "SMASH" cake

Ca-ute huh? (as a button!)

These Cute as a Button cake pops can be found on Etsy or in the Seattle area, Emerald City Cake Balls.

This beautiful tutu was made by Eva, my daughter-in-law and her daughter, my grand daughter Olivia. The embroidered tee, I made on my Bernina 830 Limited Edition sewing machine. See below Olivia sewing on the buttons for this adorable tutu!

I got real busy making this cute diaper cover for Madi's big day! The pattern I used is Ellie Mae design, "Too Cute to Boot"!

Time line banner made by Holly and Nate.

The water bottle's had a personalized label, cute as a button!

I made these adorable, fun and easy "Button Pops" You can purchase Wilton chocolate from Michael's or JoAnn's Fabrics. And the mold I used can be found on Amazon Cute Button Mold! I filled little canning jars with bright pastel colored buttons (found at Joann's) to hold the pops upright and used them as table decorations.

VERY SIMPLE!! I made the plates with colorful dots and paper plates!

A "Cute as a button" Take away cookies and gift bags that contain a small book and other little goodies!

My traditional gift to my Grandchildren is a hand made tuffet by me! Grandpa picks out three books to go with the little tuffet. When possible, I like to make a handmade gift, as toys come and go and clothing .... they out grow. For more on how to assemble and make this "Cute as a Button Tuffet" and other theme inspired tuffets, go to "Miss Muffet Sat on Her Tuffet!

Holly had a story reader come in for entertainment and all the parents joined in with their children! This party was a huge success!!

  5. Everything looks nice and kiddos really enjoyed this birthday party. Those cupcakes really look delicious. My little boy too also demanded construction birthday party at one of his favorite outdoor venues. So we are making plans for his party.
