Spicy Sweet Chicken Wings- Healthier

post signature

Chicken wings and football...nothing beats it! What's a Super Bowl without chicken wings? They go hand and hand with a cold beer. However, these little fried bites can wreck havoc on your waistline, especially if you are having them every Sunday!!

I am going to give you some solutions over the next few weeks! All have been taste tested and  approved and touted to be better than the store bought variety! WOW! Plus plus!

Give my recipes a try and you'll get some protein, some real flavor and partake in a age old tradition! Paired with a brew, you're all set!

Brown Sugar Spice Wings
First in series of "Healthier Wings"

2 lb Chicken Wings
1/4 Cup Brown sugar/sugar substitute blend
1/2 Tablespoon each paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder, onion powder

Trim off visible fat and rinse off the chicken.

Put the chicken in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and boil for 10 minutes.

While the chicken is cooking, throw the spices and sugar into a large zip lock bag.

Put the chicken into the zip lock and shake to coat thoroughly.

Place the chicken on a baking sheet and broil on high for 5 minutes on each side, or until skin starts to crisp. Watch it, the sugar will want to burn.

Grab a beer and enjoy! These are spicy, if you want, you can serve a blue cheese or ranch dressing on the side, I like Bolthouse dressings, about 35 calories a tablespoon and yummy! I find it at my Safeway in refrigerated section.
