Teriyaki Wings- Healthier

post signature

The play off games are beginning for professional football....and we want to have our favorite wings! But, we made a New Year's resolution to eat healthier. I have the solution! This is the third recipe in my "Healthier Wing Series"! Get the Wet One's out, or at least some damp paper towels, these oooey goooey wings will delight your taste buds!

Teriyaki Wings
3rd recipe in the series of "Healthier wing recipes"

2 lbs. chicken wings
1/2 c. Teriyaki marinade
1 T red pepper flakes
2 tsp. sriracha
1 1/2 T sesame seeds
Cilantro

Rinse the wings, cut off excess fat.

Place in large pot fill with cold water and bring to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes.

While chicken is boiling, put remaining ingredients in a zip lock plastic bag. Shake to mix.

Turn oven to high broil.

Shake the wings in the marinade. Place the wings on a baking sheet and place in oven about 6 inches from flame. Broil about 6 minutes on each side and enjoy!

I hiked up the Cholla trail on Camelback leading two others this week. ( I am the head of Desert Mountain Hikers)We had a great adventure, as it is quite the challenge as you ascend the last 1/3 mile of scrambling. This picture does not show the most challenging area's as it would not have been safe for me to have a camera in my hands while negotiating the rock walls and crevices. I would say this as my two sure footed friends did, this hike is for hikers who are "sure footed" and "confident". Being fit is not necessarily the top priority.  We loved the hike, and I heard comments as climbing, " I didn't know I was in for such a great adventure and experience, I love this"! The views are amazing all the way.

  1. These look delicious! I have noticed every healthier recipe boils the wings, then bakes or broils. That is a huge calorie/health difference from traditional deep frying. Dr.Hepler
